Meeker Plumbing and Heating, now in its fourth generation of Meekers, has a long history.
Originally established as Slack Plumbing in 1858, it was renamed in 1928 by Ernest Meeker who had been sole proprietor for Slack Plumbing for many years.
He was supported greatly by his wife, Elsie, who worked as bookkeeper and secretary.
Ernest, unfortunately, passed away in 1937 at the young age of 45, leaving Elsie with three kids to raise.
She continued the business, even cutting and threading pipe herself to help her employees.
