In 1898 a man named Phillip German started a business under the name of "Germans" which involved the installation and service of windmills and water systems.
To this day if you look around the Poweshiek County area you can see his work with his name printed on still standing windmills.
Phillip's son George German along with his wife, Fidelia, bought the business in 1927 and operated under the name of Farm Water Supply.
They expanded the business into the farm sector including the installation and service of pumps and hydrants as well as trenching projects.
