A. Alport & Son began 80 years ago when Abraham Alport, a plumber from Brooklyn, moved to the Catskills for its cleaner air and great fishing. Abraham would bring plumbing supplies from the city for contractors who could not easily acquire necessary building materials. In 1936, Abraham and his wife Dora settled in South Fallsburg, NY and opened a small store selling plumbing and heating supplies which was located on Main Street.
Abraham's son Harold Alport began working with him and would continue to source plumbing and heating supplies for the booming hotel era. In 1946 Harold moved the store to its current location which had more capacity for the growing business. Today, Dory Alport and Harris Alport continue the same dedication while maintaining our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
